These guys have been around for ever in Brisbane and were one of my very first clients - thanks to Glen he took a chance on me and asked for a new logo design for both his stores and business cards below are the results. These guys cater to a large gaming community and Glen and his business are internationally known within the comic industry. So my design for him had to reflect that look and feel of being a "Comic" & "Role Playing" business.

These boys are a wild bunch with 5 members all up their music is influenced by KISS, Guns 'n' Roses, Velvet Revolver just to name a few. They are guitar driven and put on quite a stage show which a lot of acts seems to lack these days. This is another group who took a chance on me back in the early days the Godz responded to an ad I had placed up at a local recording/practise studios and the rest is history. Since then I have done a total branding for them, their logo, their shirt, their posters, their symbols (except Seven's) - you name it I have done it for these guys. Designing for them was easy once the 'Dragon' logo was established and the rest just followed. Below are some examples. The Temple Godz website is no longer available due to the band ending.
The first poster is the one that is used for their tours the other one is their 2nd choice which I did for them and will one day be used for their gigs as well. The posters don't stay up on the walls of the pubs long!

A band is not complete unless it has a shirt for the punters!

This was the Godz first release to record stores they are currently working on their new album. The song "So you Wanna" is basically a girl leaves boy song, boy goes crazy etc hence the nature of the cover. This is the full CD cover laid out front and inside.

Front of CD
The Godz frequently advertised in Time Off magazine a local Brisbane street mag available at all record stores and media outlets. I was responsible for all design lay outs and sometimes liason with the magazine.

This is a project management company in Brisbane who needed a redesign of their website. Their old site was done (badly) entirely in Flash was slow and cumbersome, they spent big dollars on it, it was not updateable, nothing could be changed on it at all. They wanted something a little "vibrant" and "upbeat" something that stood out nothing too "corporate". Their company logo was pre-existing below are two page examples from the design of the site Flame Shoes Media did. This site is no longer up as they have changed their site only recently.

This was a client obtained through a contact at Real Estate.com. Cathie and Roley Warren who are the current managers of this block of beautiful apartments on the Brisbane river at Bulimba were looking for a logo that reflected the colour scheme and "youthful" & "upbeat" was their main aim. The logo below they absolutely raved about because it was way different from what they originally had wanted and didn't expect to end up with a logo that they loved.

A client obtained through word of mouth from the Warren's at The Pavilion Apartments at how exceptional Grant was to deal with at Flame Shoes Media. Peter Nikolov (client) wanted a very simple logo that would stand out on real estate signs etc he wanted something bright nothing to elaborate just noticeable.

Australian Defence Force - Technical Training Centre. Enoggera, Queensland.
I held a short term sub contract position for 4 months working on a CD ROM project. The project involved creating an educational CD ROM to help improve mathematical skills for members of the Defence Force who may have required a "brush up" on their math skills, if they were to go on to further studies which involved having to pass a math test of some kind, or they were about to undertake a course involving math. Basically to bring them up to speed. The CD ROM was created to be "fun" and it utilised characters from a cartoon strip in the Army newspaper called "Stand Easy" and they were animated in a 3D animation program.
My task (Grant Bates) was to animate all the math equations, problems and formula examples working out on the screen, showing the numbers move into their appropriate places etc all in a fun and creative way. I was also required to do some graphic design work as well. It was a great experience and one I won't forget, the team I worked with were fantastic and I took away from it a lot of knowledge.

Ice Media
Ice Media are one of Brisbane's largest multimedia companies( www.icemedia.com.au) and have some very large clients, they also develop their own software. I (Grant) was hired as a casual employee over a period of a couple of months to work on a CD ROM project for the Australian Football Leagues' Auskick program for children. This CD ROM was based on the animated mascots for the different AFL team's in their home "Mascot Manor". To have an idea this is the site (which I had nothing to do with) http://www.aflauskick.com.au/ basically the CD ROM was an extension of this theme.
With the exception that the CD ROM contained video footage of 'tips' and 'hints' on playing AFL all done in a fun and interactive way for the children to enjoy. Mascot Manor was the main interface and you clicked on various windows and it took you into the Mascot's rooms where there were fun interactive elements. My task was to create the interactivity in and outside of these rooms with supplied art work/graphics. Yet again I got to work in with another very cool team of people... a fantastic learning experience.
